Micro trend: Ballet makeup

We’ve become ever so graceful at HoF Towers, we’ve been plié-ing and pirouette-ing all round the office, we’ve gone crazy for all things ballet. From Erdem’s SS11 collection, to Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella right through to the smash hit movie Black Swan… we are in love with all things girly, pink and tulle. Ballet has indeed made something of a comeback, no longer is it the domain of pretentious three year olds with oversized buns, instead it is the new exercise du jour, with celebs queuing up to work on their pas de bourrée.

But it’s not just the fact that ballet makes you super lean and toned that’s causing a ballet revolution, but it’s the fashions as well. Ballet let’s us release our inner princess, and when given the 2011 glamour touch as seen at Chloe and Erdem, it becomes something sensual and glamorous… creating our very own Black Swan (but not quite so dark). One of the easiest and most beautiful ways to work the ballet look is to experiment through makeup. The makeup counters are packed full of petal pinks and sugar almond shades, perfect for all skin tones (and a beautiful look for any soon-to-be brides). Lancôme’s new spring look is the dreamiest of them all, we adore the lilac and lavender shades.

Opt for delicate nails in barely there pinks, and a add a flush to the cheek with candy shades. Eyes should be kept light and sugary, whilst a dab of lip balm with give a beauitufl gloss to the lips. If it’s all a bit sickly sweet for you, add in a touch of violet or charcoal to the eyes to give it a deeper and more sensual tone. Here are our favourite ballet makeup picks, just click on your favourite to find out more.
